Heart attack treatment

The early stages of a heart attack are the most critical. Immediate treatment — within one hour — can reduce the chances of developing permanent tissue damage and save your life. That's why our ER strives to shorten the time between a heart attack diagnosis and cardiac treatment. We work hard to meet or exceed high national standards for patients with heart disease.

One of the most common types of heart attacks is called a ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction or STEMI. Thanks to our continued efforts to improve our response time and our commitment to evidence-based cardiac treatment, Los Angeles County recognizes our hospital as an official STEMI Receiving Center.

Heart attack symptoms include chest pain, nausea, left arm or shoulder pain, neck, jaw or back pain, shortness of breath and sweating. If you think you are having a heart attack, call 911 immediately.

Stroke treatment

Our team of multispecialty emergency physicians and nurses are equipped to identify stroke symptoms as swiftly as possible. We are designated a Primary Stroke Center by the Joint Commission. This designation means we utilize an Acute Stroke Protocol that is backed by science and meets national benchmarks.

The symptoms of a stroke include confusion, dizziness and sudden numbness, particularly on one side of the body. If you think you are having a stroke, call 911 immediately.

Burn treatment

The Grossman Burn Center specializes in plastic surgery-based, comprehensive treatment of burns. Verified by the American Burn Association, our burn care unit treats the whole patient using the latest medical technologies.
