West Hills Hospital & Medical Center, an accredited, full-service acute care facility, has opened its doors to the public on Jan. 10, 2017, and is now fully operating its Advanced Wound Care Center, that provides a variety of industry-leading treatments and wound care protocols to address patients’ individual needs and hard-to-heal wounds.

The West Hills Hospital Advanced Wound Care Center is dedicated to the care and improvement of human life, and offers treatments such as negative-pressure wound therapy, bio-engineered tissues, biosynthetic dressings, growth factor therapies and exposing patients to high levels of oxygen through hyperbaric oxygen therapy to advance the healing process.

“Chronic wounds affect approximately 6.7 million people in the United States, and incidents are expected to rise at a rate of 2 percent annually in the next decade,” said Dr. Brian Evans, medical director of the Advanced Wound Care Center. “This alarming statistic demonstrates the growing need for wound care centers like the state-of-the-art facility at West Hills Hospital, and I’m incredibly proud to be a part of this achievement. We’re looking forward to helping those in our community struggling with these afflictions heal and enjoy healthier, more fulfilling lives.”

Patients with a wound that has not begun to heal within four weeks, or is not completely healed in six weeks, are ideal candidates for the proven, best-practice methodologies at the Advanced Wound Care Center. Some indicators that a patient would benefit from this wound therapy include diabetic ulcers, pressure ulcers, traumatic and surgical wounds, burns, persistent skin irritations, secondary infections, and limb preservation.

The care center is set up to work in conjunction with referring physicians in order to offer personalized care, and appointments can be made by contacting the care center at 818-676-HEAL (4325). The care center’s hours of operation are Monday-Friday, 8:00am - 4:00pm.
