West Hills Hospital & Medical Center, a full-service acute care facility, announces Marc Lavin MD as its new chief of staff as of Jan. 1, 2017. In this capacity, the center’s former chairman of the Quality Department will utilize his nearly two decades as part of the West Hills community and extensive knowledge of hospital policies and procedures to supervise the medical staff in providing high-quality patient care.
Lavin, who has been with the hospital since 1998 in various roles including serving on the Medical Executive Committee, the Bylaws Committee and the Credential Committee, as well as chairing the medicine department and participating in the hospital multidisciplinary peer review, completed his medical school training at Loyola Chicago, and his Internal Medicine training through the University California of Los Angeles - San Fernando Valley Program.
“I am very excited and thrilled to have Dr. Lavin as our new chief of staff,” says Douglas Long, CEO of West Hills Hospital. “I have no doubt he will provide the expertise, professionalism and direction we need. I speak for myself, the directors, physicians and nurses that he will excel in this new role.”
As chief of staff, Lavin will prioritize ensuring that the medical staff works diligently to provide the best possible care for patients at West Hills Hospital.
“We can even further improve the quality of patient care through constructive engagement of the entire medical staff,” says Lavin. “I’m looking forward to working collectively with our physicians, nurses and staff to evaluate patient needs and exceed expectations. It’s my honor to represent such an extraordinarily accomplished and distinguished group of colleagues.”
West Hills Hospital’s medical staff officers for 2017 also include president-elect Frank Candela, MD, secretary and treasurer Omid Shaye, MD, and members at large Mariam Bakhtary, MD and David Schreirer, MD.
When Lavin is not performing his duties at the hospital, the son of the late pediatrician Dr. Sheldon Lavin, enjoys spending time with his wife and two daughters. His recreational activities include coaching his daughter’s softball team and mountain biking on weekends.
