West Hills, CA - West Hills Hospital & Medical Center, a full-service acute care facility located in the San Fernando Valley, is hosting a free Orthopedic and Neuro Symposium for the community on Wednesday, Oct. 3, at 3:00pm in the auditorium at the Corporate Pointe at West Hills.

Guests will have the opportunity to learn about the latest advances in hip and knee replacements as well as minimally invasive solutions for neck and back pain. The three seminars that will be offered during the Orthopedic and Neuro Symposium are listed below:

  1. 3:00pm - Understanding Knee Replacements with Umesh Bhagia, MD
  2. 3:45pm - Advances in Hip Replacements with Nirav Shah, MD
  3. 4:30pm - Minimally Invasive Solutions for Back Pain with Amir Vokshoor, MD

According to the American Association of Neurological Surgeons (AANS), about 75 to 85 percent of Americans will experience back pain at some point in their lifetime. In addition, a study done by the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) stated that 4.7 million Americans have artificial knees, and 90 percent of them have significantly less pain than those who choose not to get a knee replacement. Additionally, the AAOS stated that 2.5 million people have had hip replacement surgery, which is one of the most successful operations for patients with hip pain.

"Knee, hip and back pain and injuries can significantly impact health and quality of life," said Yale Podnos, MD, chief medical officer of West Hills Hospital. "This symposium is a wonderful opportunity for community members to find out more about advances and solutions that are making a tremendous difference for those struggling with knee, hip and back issues."

The free seminars are open to everyone -- however, space is limited. To reserve a seat, please call (818) 676-4321 or email us.

The address for the Corporate Pointe at West Hills is 8413 Fallbrook Ave. Guests should use the entrance located on Fallbrook just north of Roscoe Boulevard and follow the event signs.
