West Hills Hospital & Medical Center celebrates its state of the art Emergency Department and Critical Care Unit
May 06, 2010
West Hills, CA, May 6, 2010 - With the building of their $60 million expansion complete, West Hills Hospital & Medical Center is hosting a preview with VIP and Community Open House events. Attendees will include representatives from the Los Angeles City and County Fire Departments and the Los Angeles Police and Sheriff Departments, as well as prominent local government officials and business leaders. There will also be a special ceremony to dedicate the new rose garden honoring Councilman Dennis P. Zine.
At a time when many Emergency Departments in Los Angeles are closing or turning away patients, this expansion increases the hospital’s ability to provide first rate emergency and critical care to the community.
"Our new Emergency Department and Intensive Care Unit is now the largest and most technologically advanced of its kind in the San Fernando Valley," says West Hills Hospital & Medical Center CEO, Beverly Gilmore. "Featuring the newest in everything, from furnishings to technology such as an electronic medical record system and barcode scanning for patient safety, our facility is designed to provide efficient service while delivering quality care to our patients in a soothing, comfortable environment."
The two story, 47,000 square foot facility features a 30 bed Emergency Department with advanced equipment, specialized treatment areas and a new 18 bed Intensive Care Unit that expands the capacity to 33 beds. The new Emergency Department has three resuscitation rooms that can handle the highest level of emergencies and two negative pressure rooms to isolate people with infectious diseases.
"This is an extraordinary new facility which will make a tremendous difference in the experience of our patients. It’s a level of technology you don’t often find at a community hospital, and it allows us to provide our patients with the highest level of care possible," states Emergency Department Medical Director, Lee Weiss, M.D.
The open house events will also include a preview of the new home of the Grossman Burn Center, due to open early this summer.
West Hills Hospital & Medical Care offers comprehensive services in Cardiac Care; specialty surgeries, including Neuro and Spine Surgery, Cancer Care, Women’s and Children’s Care; as well as other vital services.
